Bertelsmann/Mohn media, one of the largest publishing/media companies in the world.
After his studies of graphic-design / photography /film in Dortmund, San Francisco and
Bielefeld, his assistantship at Studio Jacques Schuhmacher led him to Hamburg.
In the mid-late 80s he started his studio in Frankfurt, shooting advertising-campaigns
and editorial for major clients in Germany.
Some years ago he gave up studiowork and moved to the countryside near Frankfurt.
Shooting location photography whereas assignments took him more & more all over the world.
Due to his affinity/addiction to film a lot of his pictures look like a stillshot/frame taken out of
a movie. To allow for flexibility, Rainer prefers to work in small crews. Not unlike a photojournalist
but with the execution & attention to detail of an epic feature.
He is represented outside of Germany in Los Angeles, Istanbul and Turin.
